Organizations We Work With

Mental health affects patients of all ages and walks of life, and the need for behavioral healthcare is in the numbers. According to the National Alliance of Mental Illness, 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences mental illness each year, and 1 in 6 U.S. children between the ages of 6 and 17 experiences mental illness each year. Furthermore, 50% of Medicaid enrollees have a mental health diagnosis, as outlined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. That’s why Allied BHI partners with a variety of medical practices and organizations, from pediatrics to senior care facilities. We work with organizations in the Richmond, VA metro area and beyond. Better access, better care.

Our Partners

Allied BHI partners with several different healthcare specialties and care facilities to deliver timely, affordable and high-quality behavioral health services at no additional cost to the organization. Our partners include:

Primary care providers

Many patients who are struggling with their mental health may first address their concerns with their primary care provider. By partnering with Allied BHI, your primary care providers can ensure their patients receive timely and comprehensive care under their supervision. Primary care providers who participate in our Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) can ensure patients will receive early intervention for their mental health issues, improved patient engagement, resource optimization, continuity of care for their existing patients and an overall comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care.

Pediatrics

Mental health does not just affect adults. According to the CDC, U.S. children between the ages of 13 and 17 are most commonly diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, behavioral issues and depression. By incorporating behavioral health services into your pediatric practice, patients can receive ample support for developmental concerns, continuity of care, reduced stigma surrounding mental health and peace of mind for parents and guardians. Many of Allied BHI’s behavioral health specialists have specialized training in working with children and teens, and our board certified consulting child and adolescent psychiatrists are equipped to manage medications for pediatric patients.

Specialty care

Allied BHI partners with many different medical specialties such as nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology and more. Many patients who are receiving treatment for chronic conditions in these various specialties may have difficulty coping with their diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, patients often experience a reciprocal relationship between their physical health and their mental health, such as the gut-brain connection—poor physical health can lead to poor mental health, and vice versa. By incorporating behavioral health services into these specialty practices, these vulnerable patients can receive the comprehensive care they need all under one roof.

Senior living facilities

Many older Americans, whether they live at home or in facilities, are struggling with their emotional well-being and mental health. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 15% of older adults are impacted by behavioral health problems. Mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression are very common among seniors due to loss, life changes, loneliness and coping with chronic conditions and other physical health problems. This not only puts stress on seniors, but their families and caregivers. Furthermore, it is often difficult for seniors to get the mental health care they need—currently, seniors in tremendous need may have to wait up to four months to meet with a psychiatric caregiver. Allied BHI brings these crucial behavioral health services to senior living facilities, ultimately improving seniors’ quality of life.

Accountable care organizations

Behavioral health integration plays a crucial role in supporting accountable care organizations (ACOs) by improving care coordination and patient outcomes and cutting down on overall costs. By integrating mental health services, ACOs can ensure that physical and behavioral health providers collaborate effectively, reducing fragmentation and promoting a holistic approach to patient care. This integration leads to improved patient care, as mental health conditions significantly impact health outcomes. Furthermore, with Allied BHI’s cutting-edge and industry-leading proprietary software, ACO providers can easily connect with Allied BHI’s behavioral health specialists and consulting psychiatrists to coordinate patient care.

Employer programs

Allied BHI does not just partner with medical practices and care organizations—we also work with employer wellness programs to screen for, monitor and optimally treat behavioral health problems in team members and their families. By treating employees in-house, employers can work to increase employee productivity and attendance and improve employees’ overall work-life balance and quality of life.
